Jaipur-The capital city of the state of Rajasthan is popularly known as the Pink City, from the pink coloured sandstone with which the buildings in its old, walled city are constructed. The town is in a desert-like landscape, surrounded by barren hills. Jaipur owes its name, its foundation and its careful planning to the great warrior-astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh II (1699-1744). His predecessors had enjoyed good relations with the Moghuls but in 1727, with Moghul power on the wane, Jai Singh decided the time was ripe to move down from his hillside fortress at nearby Amber to a new site on the plains. He laid out the city with its surrounding walls and six rectangular blocks after the principles of town planning set forth in the Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture.

Afternoon, visit Jaipur City: Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Winds, a five-storied structure of pink sandstone with semi-octagonal and delicately honeycombed windows overlooking the main street of the old city. It was built in 1799 so that veiled royal woman could peer down unseen by the world through it s 593 stone screens. We proceed for a guided tour of the City Palace & Observatory. The City Palace in the heart of the old city is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The center of the palace is a seven storied building called Chandra Palace, with fine views over the gardens and the city. Next top the City Palace is the Solar Observatory - an astronomical treasure house, with solar device that gives accurate predictions till date. Drive past Hawa Mahal or the palace of Winds, Jantar Mantar & visit colourful Bazaar passing through the rose-pink residential and business area of Jaipur.

Day 4 Jaipur:golden triangle tours
After breakfast, visit Amber Fort, the former capital of the royal Rajputs. Few fail to be moved by the dramatic Rajput grandeur of this hilltop fortress-palace 11-km north of Jaipur. Set on the dry wrinkled Aravali Hills, and surrounded by fortified battlements, the palace straddles two sepia-hued tundra hills overlooking Maota Lake, and its sprawling crenellated walls lattice the surrounding hills. We will ride up to this hilltop palace on a caparisoned, painted elephant, passing through the ancient main gate where Maharajas of Jaipur have entered for four hundred years. Our guide will elaborate on the history of this architectural masterpiece with its mirror-studded alcoves, dazzling mosaics and water-cooled swings that delight today’s visitors as they did their former royal residents.
Elephant Ride at Amber Fort!!!
Rest of the day at leisure or Evening free to visit Colorful Bazaar in Jaipur.

Day 5 Jaipur-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra ByRoad (221kms/5hrs)
After breakfast, depart for Agra, en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri (40 kms.), built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chishti, Panch Mahal and other palaces.

Agra was the capital of India at the time of Moghuls in the 16th and 17th centuries and its superb monuments date from that era. Situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, Agra has a magnificent fort and that building, solely for which, many people have been visiting India - the Taj Mahal.
Later, visit Itmad-Ud-Daulah’s Tomb, the monument that is most important in Agra is the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah or "Baby Taj" as it is called sometimes. A highly ornate edifice, this mausoleum is considered as the imminent precursor of the Taj Mahal as far as elaborate carvings and inlay work are concerned. Though the structure does not have much to offer architecturally, it makes a clear departure from the earlier Mughal tombs built during the period and is more softer and with a lot of inlay carvings.

Day 6 Agra
Early Morning, witness the magic of the ultimate symbol of Mughal achievement, The Taj Mahal at Sunrise. Taj Mahal, a dream etched in milky white pristine marble is the peerless monument portraying the beauty of eternal love! A commemoration of the memory of Shahjahan's beloved wife, Mumtaz. Taj Mahal is indeed India's rich tribute to womanhood. Renowned for its aesthetic beauty, this extravagant building of timeless beauty is the outcome of a unique combination of passion and architectural exuberance.

After breakfast, visit Agra Fort - the seat and the stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. This was the seat of Mughal rule and administration and the present structure owes its origins to Akbar who erected the wall s and gates and the first buildings on the eastern banks of Yamuna River. Shah Jehan added the impressive quarters and the mosque while Aurangzeb added the outer ramparts. Visit its Hall of Public Audience and its Royal Pavilions.
